to meditate

Tuesday, October 07, 2008

To meditate, you must want to meditate. It can't be done out of duty or mechanically. It can at times be drawn out of you through desperation, but the deepest and most fruitful times of meditation are those born of a sincere love for His Spirit and wanting to be completely engulfed in it to where you are content to let everything else go to find that place of complete rest in Him.

I used to take long walks outside until I'd come to a spot where I could comfortably rest. I'd enter the presence of our Husband‚ and it was there that I experienced many beautiful moments with Him, through the simple act of being serious enough to take the time, get away from everything else‚ and let Him do the rest. It was by no means silent, but all that I could hear‚ see, and feel was Him.

this Love

Just like love on this earth, you cannot see it, feel it, touch it, smell it, put it in a box, or even understand it sometimes. But its warmth touches your heart, and you feel its presence. So is it with God. His love for you may be uncomprehendable, it may be lacking in all those tangible things, but you have faith to know that He is with you, that His love for you is real and unconditional. He loves you.

quiet memories

My thoughts have been quiet of You of late, I guess we're coming to that part of the relationship where things might not be easy; affection gets a little slow, thoughts are a little painful. What can I say to bring You out again?

Can I go back to that moment, that fairytale moment when You were all that mattered in my thoughts? When our spirits clicked and sparks flew, when ecstasies were all we brought out in each other. Let's go back there, just one more time.

At last
My love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song

At last
The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clover
The night I have looked at YOU

I found a dream, that I could speak to
A dream that I, can call my own
I found a thrill, to press my cheek to
A thrill that I, have never known

You smiled, You smiled
And then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For You are mine at last

Rise up, sweet child, and sing,
For the victory I will bring.
Like a rising tide within,
I wash you free from the bindings of sin.
Where once was naught but gloom and self-despair,
I plant a garden of faith, power, praise and prayer.
Though you have walked the valley of death and worldly care.
Wondrous lessons have you learned there:
That I love you,
That My Word is true,
That there is naught that your flesh can do.
Still, all things are possible in Me through you.

I Don't Know How to Love You

Tell Me

If you are passionately in love with someone who you've been away from for a time, and they are now standing a hundred feet away from you, is your determination or interest in reaching them lessened if the room is crowded with people, rather than if the room were empty?

If that love and desire are real, hindrances will only heighten your determination and cause you to redouble your efforts, won't they? If other factors distract you, is it not simply because your love is not as great as it should be? So it is with meditation. If your love for Jesus is what it should be, then outside factors may slow you down in reaching your goal, but they could never prevent you from reaching it.
